The Fleetwood opened in 1977. Located at 260 North Harbor Drive inside a deteriorating retail development known as the Redondo Triangle Shopping Center, the 16-and-older club boasted the largest capacity of any South Bay music venue.
While the Sweetwater Cafe next door hosted folkies of the Laurel Canyon variety, The Fleetwood drew in a harder set: Middle Class, Mau-Maus, Circle Jerks (Fleetwood House Band), Adolescents, Vicious Circle (Pre-TSOL!), Idle Rich, Detours, Eddie, the Alcoholics, and Hal Negro, The Germs, The Bags, The Plugz, The Gun Club.
The Circle Jerks’ performance in The Decline Of Western Civilization documentary was filmed at the Fleetwood.
Vere little exists from the Fleetwood, so this shirt based on a flyer that featured some classic Shawn Kerri art (she drew the classic Circle Jerks skank kid logo).
