The Grand Olympic Auditorium was a major boxing and wrestling arena in Downtown Los Angeles, California, opening in 1925. It has become a landmark for boxing history – Charles Bukowski wrote about the Olympic: "The fighters fought like fighters and the place was blue with cigar smoke..." It hosted the "32 Summer Olympics, and became the home of major boxing and wrestling events, but closed in the 80s, as Pro Wrestling became popular.
They hosted concerts since the early 1970s, but gained a reputation for being a notorious Punk Rock venue. Gary Tovar and Goldenvoice started booking shows, with acts like GBH, The Exploited, T.S.O.L., Suicidal Tendencies, UK Subs, Circle Jerks, The Dickies, Wasted Youth, Dead Kennedys, The Vandals, D.O.A., Bad Religion, FEAR, and many others. Black Flag was the headliner for a New Year's Eve show 1981-82.
Visible off the 10 Freeway, the venue is now a Korean-American evangelical church, "Glory Church of Jesus Christ".
